St. Jude Donations Via Payroll Deductions

Dear employees,

I am proud to announce we are well into our fourth year of partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I am inspired by your ongoing commitment and efforts to support the St. Jude mission: Finding cures. Saving children. Today we are launching an exciting new opportunity for BSH employees to donate to St. Jude easily and efficiently through payroll deduction. You can sign-up here starting today, Monday, February 22nd – Friday, March 5th. Please join me and participate with a gift to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude. I am proud to share that BSH will match your payroll deductions dollar-for-dollar.* Program overview and FAQ’s attached.

Why donate to St. Jude? The advancements made at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are a direct result of contributions from companies like BSH and generous employees. Treatments developed at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent since the hospital opened more than 50 years ago. With your support, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

What other St. Jude initiatives are planned this year? We have a variety of new initiatives planned this year to support St. Jude, and will offer engaging opportunities for BSH employees to be further involved (i.e. Walk/Run). Keep an eye out for further details coming soon around how you can get involved!

Thank you for supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Sincerely,

Christofer von Nagel

*BSH match funds not to exceed $75,000 from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021.

Global Board of Management End-of-Year Message Recaps an Extraordinary Year and Thanks All Employees

December 15, 2020

Please see below and click here for our global Board of Management’s year-end message that recaps an extraordinary year, looks to the future and thanks each and every BSH employee for their contribution.

Dear Colleagues,

What an extraordinary year 2020 has been!

For every one of us, it has been like no other – a year with special challenges, in some cases even existential threats, a year with tremendous uncertainties.

The past twelve months have brought huge personal burdens. Many of you worked from home while at the same time caring for family members and often home-schooling kids. Others worked on the frontline – in sales, in our factories, in logistics, and in customer service, to name just a few. The spread of the coronavirus pandemic around the globe has massively affected our lives in all countries. We are aware that this has pushed many to the limits of what we can bear.

Our company – BSH – has gotten through these difficult times well. This was possible only because of YOUR contributions: FOR THIS, WE WANT TO THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH. It was an extraordinary achievement!

All of you have gone above and beyond to ensure that our consumers have the home appliances they need, putting smiles on their faces in these challenging times – while at the same time complying with the hygiene measures to keep each other safe and healthy.

Unlike what many of us may have initially feared, demand for our exceptional products and services did not collapse. Quite to the contrary, almost everywhere in the world, the coronavirus crisis meant that people spent significantly more time at home, cooking more, baking more and prioritizing cleanliness and hygiene. This has led to an increase in global demand in all of our product categories, which will result in an outstanding business performance for this year.

We are optimistic that we can carry this momentum into the New Year. After all, there is hope that the pandemic will end at some point. However, it will probably take until the second half of 2021, if not longer, before we overcome this worldwide crisis and economies start to pick up again. This means: We need to stay vigilant.

Let us therefore continue to take good care of and look after each other as responsibly as we have done until now – within BSH as well as externally. We in the Board of Management are very much looking forward to shaping BSH’s future with you throughout the coming year. Again, and also on behalf of the leadership team: Thank you very much for your extraordinary work.

We want to wish you and your families, your partners, and your friends a peaceful and happy end to the year and a good start in 2021. Stay healthy and recharge over the holidays – 2021 will be a year filled with opportunities!

Kind regards

Carla, Gerhard, Matthias and Silke

Annual Merit and General Wage Increases Expected to be Awarded December 24, 2020

December 11, 2020

Dear Employees

This year has been a whirlwind as we have moved through the pandemic together.   The company, both globally and locally, has performed much better than we expected earlier this year.  The demand for our products, the continued work efforts of production and service employees, and the overall support and accomplishments of all RNA BSH employees have contributed to our successes this year.

As you know, one of the cost saving measures implemented in March was a suspension of the company’s annual merit and general wage increase from April 1 to Sept 1, 2020.   We are pleased to announce our BoM, along with the BSH global Board, has approved a one-time lump sum merit award for those employees who were affected by this delay.

We are working through the calculations now, and expect to pay this award on December 24, 2020.   The amount is based on your base annual pay rate as of January 1, 2020 * your planned merit increase % prorated for 5 months.   There are prorates for employees hired during the 2019 calendar year, and employees who were on leave of absence in 2019 and/or 2020.  As an example:   $50,000 * 3% /12 * 5 = $625 merit award.

We want to thank each and every one of you for your dedication, resilience and the contributions you have made during this year, and we are excited to see what the new year will bring.  Happy Holidays, and stay safe!

Best regards,

Christofer von Nagel , CEO              Jesus Egido, CFO                Axel Zink, COO

SUBJECT: COVID-19 Policy Reminder

September 2, 2020

Dear BSH colleagues,

As we enter Labor Day weekend, we want to take a moment to remind you that while you enjoy this holiday weekend with your loved ones, please continue to follow the COVID-19 guidelines, including social distancing, safety and hygiene measures. Each of us has an important role in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, whether that be at one of our facilities, home office/remote work or visiting our customers or trade partners. It is our collective responsibility to act responsibly by adhering to the BSH COVID-19 policies to protect ourselves, loved ones, co-workers, business partners and customers.

As a reminder, if you are sick, you must stay home and take sick or personal leave (PL). Do not come into work or visit with employees or other parties such as customers or trade partners. Colleagues who come to work and show symptoms of illness will be required to leave and asked by their supervisor to seek medical attention. Below is a reminder of the BSH Policies and Protocols:

  • Employees who Report or Display COVID-19 Related Symptoms:  BSH employees who report or display COVID-19 related symptoms while at a BSH site will be required to go home to self-quarantine for 14 days. These symptoms include persistent cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fever, sore throat, chills, muscle or body aches, fatigue, nausea or vomiting, headache, new loss of taste or smell and diarrhea.  Employees who can continue to work from home should do so.  If unable to work from home, employees may be eligible for disability benefits after the first five working days of the quarantine.   After the fifth working day, employees can apply for LOA benefits following the regular leave of absence policy.
  • Travel Policy: BSH has defined its Travel Policy as outlined in the intranet page and the Travel Orientation Training Deck, which can be found on the Intranet. All employees are required to follow the guidance within the Travel Orientation Training Deck.
  • Quarantining: A self-quarantine period continues to be required for employees who have come in close contact (less than 6 feet for 15 minutes or more) with someone who is suspected or who has tested positive for COVID-19.
  • Hygiene Measures: It is our collective responsibility to act responsibly by adhering to the BSH hygiene measures posted throughout our facilities and online.
  • Social Distancing: Social distancing of 6 feet distance between each person must be maintained at all possible times. We have put substantial effort into securing six feet of spacing or additional protection at BSH facilities. When social distancing cannot be maintained, employees must wear a face covering or any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that has been assigned to them. Masks will be made available to any employee upon request.

Thank you for the active steps you are taking to keep you, your family and our business community healthy and safe.

Sincerely,

Christofer von Nagel, CEO                   Jesus Egido, CFO                     Axel Zink

SUBJECT: General Wage Increase

August 25, 2020

For employees who do not have company email please read the communication below from our local Board of Management.

Dear RNA Team,

As we continue working through the complex challenges caused by COVID-19, we are seeing better than expected results in our turnover and EBIT numbers.

Earlier this year, GWI was suspended due to the unknowns of the pandemic, and the stringent cost saving measures we had to put in place to secure our results in 2020.   However, based on the efficiency we have been able to achieve with those savings and the strong expectations for a good business development in the months to come, we are very pleased to announcethat we have decided to release the 2020 general wage increase (GWI)

Therefore, effective August 31, 2020 a GWI of 3% for production and warehouse employees will be applied also.

Thank you for your continued efforts and dedication over the past few months.

Christofer von Nagel, CEO                   Jesus Egido, CFO                     Axel Zink

Please Read – COVID-19 Employee Travel Important Information

July 2, 2020

Dear RNA Colleagues,

As you may have read in the news, the number of COVID-19 cases has been growing on a nationwide basis. With the July 4th holiday weekend in the United States and upcoming vacations upon us we wanted to stress the importance of adhering to the safety and health guidelines put in place by both the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Public Health Agency of Canada, as well as the BSH protocols.  It is more important than ever for us to continue conducting ourselves in a responsible manner in both our work lives and our personal lives. We must continue to practice good behaviors including good hygiene, social distancing and wearing masks when in public.  These steps will help protect us from the COVID-19 virus.

Some of you may be accustomed to visiting the RNA Intranet to check the U.S. hot spot list, which is updated on a weekly basis and provides a visibility to higher risk areas. Recently, however, there has been a resurgence of cases and there are many new COVID-19 hot spots throughout the United States, especially across the Southeast, Central and Southwest areas of the U.S.  The rate of increasing hot spots has now made updating this list impossible.  As a result we wish to provide some further travel guidance for those who have been released to conduct business travel and for those who will travel personally.  We also want to advise you of what to expect upon returning to a BSH facility:

United States

Canada

  • The US-Canada land border remains closed for non-essential travel until July 21 2020; appliance supply chain qualifies as “essential travel”
  • The federal government, under The Quarantine Act, is requiring the self-isolation of all travelers returning from international travel. BSH will require employees who travel internationally (whether business or personal) to self-quarantine for 14 days.  Employees are required to contact their supervisors if they are travelling internationally.
  • Adhere to province and local restrictions concerning travel, and any related quarantine requirements pre- or post-travel.  Here are some links to help you research the province and local regulations.
  • Canadian Air Transport Security Authority: https://www.catsa-acsta.gc.ca/en/language-langue
  • Public Health Agency of Canada Infection Prevention: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/prevention-risks.html
  • Public Health Agency of Canada Awareness Resources: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/awareness-resources.html
  • Adhere to BSH Canada travel protocols. Information is found at: F:\MIS\shared\Reopening\Remote working guide\BSH Canada remote working guide CURRENT.xlsm” and F:\MIS\shared\Reopening\Remote working guide\BSH RNA Travel Orientation – Final v10.pptx

Employees that travel to a hot spot region within the U.S. or Canada will be expected to not only practice the safety precautions of good hygiene, but also practice social distancing and wearing masks in public. Therefore BSH will not require associates to self-quarantine upon return from domestic travel unless federal, local and/or state/provincial regulations require so. Quarantining continues to be required for associates who have come in close contact (less than 6 feet for 15 minutes or more) with someone who is suspected or who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Our new reality is that we must adapt our daily lives to be as safe and responsible as possible and remain diligent in abiding by proper guidelines. It is up to all of us to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Should you have any questions regarding COVID-19, any of the above information or BSH’s response to the pandemic, please reach out to your supervisor, HRBP or a member of our crisis management team, led by Lore McKenna.

Thank you. Stay safe. Stay healthy.

Sincerely,

Christofer von Nagel   Jesus Egido    Axel Zink

Please Read – COVID-19 & New Bern Dishwasher Factory Important Notice

June 1, 2020

Dear BSH colleagues,

This letter is to advise you that today BSH received notification that an employee based in our New Bern dishwasher factory has tested positive for COVID-19. In accordance with our policy, we immediately connected with the local authorities and conducted an extensive assessment of the situation. As a result, we have identified one other employee reported to have been in close contact with the positive COVID-19 reported case from our dishwasher factory. Both of these employees have been sent home, asked to shelter at home and monitor their health for the period of time outlined by the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control guidelines.

BSH is working closely with the Craven County Health Department and after their review of the stringent health and safety measures we have already implemented as well as the continued extensive cleaning and disinfection protocols already in place, they advised us not to shut down our dishwasher factory.

As you know, BSH has put in place safety and hygienic protocols including social distancing, safety and hygienic measures in accordance with the recommendations from national and local authorities, conducting temperature screening prior to entering our facilities, adjusting shift timing, and educating employees on symptoms and preventive measures to take both within and outside of their work environment.

BSH will continue to monitor this situation and advise you of any further developments or actions required as a result of the situation. As a reminder, if you are sick, regardless of condition, you should stay home and take sick or personal leave (PL) time. BSH employees who come to work and show symptoms of persistent cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, fever, etc. will be sent home by their supervisor.

Thank you for the active steps you are taking to follow measures and protocols to help keep our community and workplace healthy and safe. Please contact your manager if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

BSH Operations Management Team

Please Read – COVID-19 & New Bern Dishwasher Factory Update

May 26th, 2020

Dear BSH colleagues,

We appreciate your patience and understanding during the temporary closure of the New Bern dishwasher factory. As you know, a new COVID-19 case was detected at our dishwasher factory on May 18, prompting the factory’s precautionary closing. Since then, however, BSH has received notification that additional employees in the dishwasher factory have tested positive for COVID-19 and this news has impacted our plans to reopen the site.

As of the drafting of this letter, there are 18 positive COVID-19 reported cases from our dishwasher factory with another 101 employees reported to have been in close contact with those ill employees. We have connected with local authorities and conducted a full assessment and investigation of the site and factory. We have also informed the employees that were reported to have been in close contact with the ill employees about the situation. These employees have been sent home and asked to shelter at home and monitor their health for the period of time outlined by the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control guidelines.

During this temporary closure, we took action to add additional safety measures that continue to exceed what is currently required of businesses and factories. We are reopening our dishwasher factory on May 28, 2020 with a limited workforce. We will send out campus alerts to keep our employees advised of the reopening. Our decision to resume operations is driven by the full assessment we made and the implementation of additional safety and hygienic measures. These additional onsite measures include:

• Enhanced screening questions conducted during temperature checks prior to entering the site.
• Additional engineered solutions, such as barriers, in potential ‘hot spot’ areas within the facility.
• Full cleaning and disinfection of surfaces conducted by professional third party service.
• On-site translation service to facilitate efficient communication regarding safety and hygienic measures.
• Continue to work closely with the local health department to keep apprised of potential cases and active contact tracing.

We are continuing to work diligently on measures to help protect our employees while performing our function as an essential business. This pandemic has hit us and our community hard. As you may know, there has been a recent increase of COVID-19 cases in New Bern, and this has impacted our facility. As a reminder, we ask that you, whether at home or at work, continue to adhere to social distancing measures and diligently practice proper personal safety and hygiene practices. We thank you for your support and understanding and appreciate everything you do to help keep our community and workplace healthy and safe.

Sincerely,

BSH Operations Management Team
